We decided to throw Henry a little birthday party at home since we would be in town for his birthday this year. We've been lucky enough to spend his birthdays at the beach (due to it falling over Memorial Day weekend as well as race weekend), but we stayed home this year because of Ben. I was a little hesitant about having a birthday party to be honest. I didn't know how well it would go having a bunch of young kids plus parents crammed in our house. And what if it rained!!
Henry ended up having a wonderful dinosaur themed party. It was a beautiful day, which allowed the kids to spend most of the time outside. It was fun-filled chaos most of the time, but we did have one activity planned for the kids. We set up a baby pool filled with sand and hid mini dinosaurs in the sand for the kids to find. I think that was a huge hit - who doesn't love digging in the sand?!?! Overall, it was a huge success. There were few tears, though Henry did live up to the song lyrics "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to" a time or two.
And props to me - I already have his thank you notes in the mail :)
