It's a dinosaur, duh

 Henry has been identifying some of his drawings lately.  It's not just scribbling, but purposeful artwork.  Unfortunately, it is a little difficult for others to identify the subject. The other day, Henry was drawing on his magna-doodle and proclaiming that his masterpiece was a dragon.  He erased his drawing and made another dragon and then another and another.  He made a fourth drawing, and I said "Oh, Henry, another dragon!"  He looked up at me with a disgusted look on his face and said "no Mommy, that's a dinosaur, a Super Why dinosaur."

Of course it was.

Ben 's Two-Month Photo Shoot

Here are Ben's pictures from our two-month photo shoot.  I cannot wait to see how much he changes and grows month to month!  I know it is a lot of the same picture over and over, but my subject wasn't very cooperative to change :)

Two Months

Ben is now two months old.  Time is flying so much faster this time around!  He had his two-month check up this morning and here are his stats:

Weight = 12 pounds, one ounce (61%)
Height = 23 inches (55%)
Head circumference = 40%

I guess we are out of the newborn stage (although I don't know when it officially ends).  Soon it will be time to move Ben out of our room and into his own crib.  I'm having a hard time letting go of this stage.  Don't get me wrong - I am looking forward to sleeping through the night, crawling, giggles, etc., and frankly, newborns are kinda boring.  But I'm sad that I will never again have a newborn baby.  No more squeaks or newborn smells.  No more tiny baby that sleeps sweetly on my chest.

That being said, I have enjoyed the outings we are starting to take as a family.  We are also starting to get into a nice groove, and I cannot wait to get on a more regular schedule.  They say babies thrive on a schedule, and I've learned that I do as well.  Ben's smiles are pretty awesome too, though somewhat elusive.  Here are some pictures from this past month:

Not the best of photos, but you can see the tuft of hair on top of his head that hasn't laid flat since the day he was born

sweet brothers!

finally got some proof that Ben's smiles exist!

So this is why I blog

I am currently kicking myself for not keeping up with this blog for the past year.  Ryan and I were looking at photos on my iPhone and came across this video I took about a year ago.  It is amazing how much changes and you don't even realize it.  Henry is a little boy now, no longer a baby.  The difference between Henry in April 2012 and Henry in April 2013 is astounding to me.  Of course I'm happy to see him growing and maturing, but this growth and maturation we are witnessing makes me a little sad at the same time.  I know I won't be great about keeping up with this blog, but I hope to do well enough that I can actually remember my babies as babies.

Presenting Henry and Mommy singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" in April 2012.  Please excuse my singing voice and Henry's strawberry-stained shirt and drool :)

Keep My Feet

Here are a few of my favorite current Henry moments/sayings:

  • When he wants to be held/carried, he says "I want to carry you."  I love this.
  • "Toy Story" character Buzz Lightyear is called "School Bus."  Buzz - Bus - School Bus.  Makes sense to Henry
  • I can confidently say that Henry can correctly name and identify more dinosaurs than you.
  • If Henry doesn't want to wear shoes, he says he wants to "keep my feet."  He also wants to "keep his head" when he wants to take off his toboggan
  • In his bed this past week, he has slept with:  the fab five (blue bear, moo-moo, bunny, Ernie and Cookie), two plastic cars, two plastic t-rexs, an Easter egg and his crocs.
  • He calls music "nougat"
  • When we want to call Daddy from the car, Henry knows to say "Call Ryan"
  • He loves pointing out and identifying letters.  He can spell his name and write an H and an E.
  • He always ask for a banana when he leaves Nana and Grandpa's house.  Everytime.
  • Candy is called "canny"
  • Any clothing with words/letters, that item of clothing is called ABC.  For example, his fleece with the Columbia logo is his ABC coat.

And here are some of my favorite pictures from the past year:
