Two Months

Henry (aka Buddy, Big Hank, Henry Pants, Henry Face, and Karate Champion) turned two months old today.  Two months!  Where did the time go?  I remember how long those last two months seemed when I was pregnant, and now his first few months have gone by in a sleep-deprived flash.

We had his two month check-up and first vaccination shots today.  I bombarded our pediatrican (whom I really like) with all my questions on sleep, poop, Zantac, etc. and she (as always) left me feeling like I'm not a failure - which is nice!  Here are "Big Hank's" stats:

weight:  13 pounds (75% - 90%)
length:  22 3/4 inches (50%)
head circumference:  (25%-50%) -- he has a pea-head like his mom and dad

The best part of this second month has been those smiles he gives me daily.  Oh, those smiles.  I'm an addict.  I crave them.  I covet them.  I cannot get enough.  When he breaks out into that huge mouthy, toothless grin, I just melt inside.  He's just perfect.

Gotcha!

Henry's smiles have been few and far between.  He is a very serious little man.  However, I can pretty much guarantee a mouthy grin right after he has a fully tummy and clean pants.  So for the past two weeks, I've tried to capture these rare moments, but he wouldn't pose for the camera...until today!  Enjoy:

Tummy Time Fun

There is only so much that you can do when you are seven weeks and five days old.  I'd imagine the same old floor time and tummy time would get rather boring.  So to spice things up a bit, I propped Henry on a pillow for one of our tummy time sessions.  It also allowed me to get some cute pictures in as well!

check out those cheeks!

Play Date

Henry (seven weeks) had his first playdate today with his new friend Thomas (nine weeks).  The boys had a great time napping, feeding, staring, and Thomas even tried to show-off how he can roll over -- maybe next time, Thomas!  Henry is already looking forward to their next get together.

Mobile Fun

I love the fact that Henry seems to focus more and more on certain objects, especially when it is me. Everyday he learns and sees something new! Here are some pictures of Henry enjoying his mobile:

Smile!

Henry turned 6 weeks today! I cannot believe how quickly time flies, especially when there are times that you feel like you're doing "nothing" all day. To celebrate his birthday, Henry graced me with not one, but TWO smiles! Both occurred after I changed his "pants." So thanks, Henry, for making a diaper change fun! Hopefully we can add smiley pictures soon...

Lesson Learned

We've been doing our grocery shopping online for the past few weeks, and it has gone pretty well. First of all, I hate going to the grocery store. Second, the idea of adding Henry to the mix was not appealing. So Harris Teeter's express pickup has been a blessing for me. Our first two pickups went relatively smoothly and Henry behaved beautifully in the car. Henry is usually fast asleep before you're even out of the driveway. Our trip yesterday, however, was a different story. We had our pickup scheduled for 11 - 11:30. Henry was napping, so I carefully and quietly placed him in his carseat and off we went. Well, apparently Henry does not like to be woken up. Moral of the story - don't wake a sleeping baby.

Here are a few pictures for you to visualize our trip to Harris Teeter and back:

Thank you, World Cup

I don't know if its because I grew up playing soccer or if its Ryan's enthusiasm and excitement that has made it so contagious (he has been like a kid at Christmas), but I've really enjoyed watching the World Cup. The matches have been great to have in the background when I'm feeding, changing or rocking Henry. Besides, the World Cup has also stalled me from getting sucked into some really bad daytime TV. I must admit, though, I have not been a dedicated viewer since the US's unfortunate departure. Hopefully we'll have a better outcome in 2014.

p.s. - the vuvuzelas provide some awesome background noise when you want to take a nap!
